Our Story

Volt Electric is an electrical contracting company based out of Yukon, Oklahoma. Owner, Nic Floyd, decided to leave the local electrical union after 10 years of helping them complete large commercial projects. He worked on The Devon tower, at Tinker AFB, at the FAA facility, ran a whole floor remodel at OU medical for the new Urology department, and was the general foreman for the $21 Million dollar remodel of the Softball Hall of Fame Stadium, to name a few. He started the company to bring that level of knowledge and skill to his new business and all of our new customers. The ultimate goal is to provide the Oklahoma City metro and surrounding suburbs with quality electrical work in a timely manner, and with outstanding customer service.

So, Volt Electric was founded to set the new standard in our industry and in every area we touch. Our #1 passion is helping real estate agent’s clients, both buyers and sellers after home inspections have been completed and repairs are needed. We find this type of work very rewarding because we get to play a part in what can be a very exciting, stressful, and emotional time in people’s lives. We have a great understanding of the real estate transaction process and also understand that electricity makes a lot of people nervous. So when that inspection report comes back and all of the parties involved are anxious, we love to step in to clarify and teach. We can not only competently fix the issues well within the closing deadline but we can also advocate on the behalf of buyers and sellers to make sure that the issues with the electrical systems are resolved with safety and satisfaction in mind. We truly enjoy educating people about how electricity functions in their home and always strive to be the best in our field.

Volt is a very family oriented company with several members of our 7 person family who play important roles in the business. Besides myself, my wife helps with much of the computer and accounting work as well as the occasional material runner for technicians in the field. She has played an integral part in the business from the beginning being a motivator, cheerleader, and helper in many different aspects and has absolutely been invaluable. Our oldest daughter is my occasional “apprentice” helping on projects where an extra set of hands is needed. She enjoys the work and has gotten very proficient at learning the ins and outs of the electrical trade and being a great help out in the field. We even involve some of the younger kids in the business, occasionally taking them along to be “bidding” buddies when I am out looking over and pricing potential jobs for customers. It gives me the opportunity to teach them a valuable skill and what it is like to work hard for something rewarding that you care about. The thing that I have learned the most while having the entire family be a part of what we are building is that the involvement of much of the family in the business brings a more real and personal touch for the customers who we serve. I believe that it helps build trust and a good personal relationship between ourselves and our customers because it says that we are all in and ready to serve. We want customers to understand that we are as invested in their projects and electrical issues as they are.

One of the other ways we strive to accomplish 100% customer satisfaction is to hire and keep highly skilled and knowledgeable technicians who are the backbone of our business. All of our electricians are well trained, state licensed, highly motivated, and hand picked to be the best. They have our same company interests in mind and strive for the best performance for each and every one of our valued customers. They are the face of our company and we could not do it without them. Continuing education is important in our trade and we seek to be on the forefront of the newest technology and methods of industry. That is why we promote continuing education courses and constantly stay up to date on the newest electrical codes and standards. It is not enough to merely run a business and help customers, we are motivated to exceed expectations and help our employees better themselves through personal enrichment and self education. Our goal with employees can be summed up in a few quotes:

“Train people well enough so they can leave, treat them well enough so they don’t want to.”Richard Branson

“The supreme quality for leadership is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible, no matter whether it is on a section gang, a football field, in an army, or in an office.”Dwight D. Eisenhower

“Somebody once said that in looking for people to hire, you look for three qualities: integrity, intelligence, and energy. And if you don’t have the first, the other two will kill you. You think about it; it’s true. If you hire somebody without [integrity], you really want them to be dumb and lazy.”Warren Buffett

A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others. He does not set out to be a leader, but becomes one by the equality of his actions and the integrity of his intent.Douglas MacArthur
